The Gonzaga Bulldogs may still remain at the top of the latest round of the College Basketball Power Rankings. However, there has been plenty of movement in spots around them, with a number of programs have been able to leap a number of spots at the right time of the season.
Of course, whilst the power rankings do not mean that a certain guarantee can be had regarding a particular outcome, there is no doubt that they can be an incredibly useful resource tool for those who like to know how a certain team is doing.
Indeed, those who continue to look for the best college basketball betting odds may decide to take a look at the latest ranking system to work out whether a betting market or price to have been provided is good value for money, whilst also potentially being able to gain an insight into what may happen in the future.
Naturally, the Gonzaga Bulldogs remain one of the top teams for everyone in the NCAA, although the rest of the list is perhaps a little more opinionated and subjective for many. Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the teams ranked between No.1 and No. 7 currently as we head towards March Madness.
It really should not come as a surprise to learn that the Gonzaga Bulldogs remain at the top of the latest power rankings, especially as they remain just two games away from securing a third unbeaten regular-season campaign in the last four to have been played.
They are also only four wins away from being provided with the fourth NCAA tournament 1-seed in a row, too. Additionally, they are also likely to be named the overall 1-seed for the second season running.
For many, the Arizona Wildcats have started to climb the power rankings at the right moment as they have started to put in a number of important performances on the court, even when they have not been at their best. Benedict Mathurin has started to come good in recent games, too, which is a huge positive for the Wildcats, as he will be vital as the season continues.
The Kansas Jayhawks is another college basketball program that has started to find some form, whilst one individual is starting to find some consistency that could have a huge impact on their season. David McCormack has had trouble replicating the form that he showed towards the end of the last campaign but appears to have rediscovered it as he continues to hit his stride in the matches that he has played in recently.
The Auburn Tigers may have dropped slightly in the latest power rankings, but they should still be considered title contenders this season. Remember, they have only lost once in regulation, and that was by a sole point at Florida. However, there do appear to be some issues that are starting to creep in. Mistakes regarding decision-making and turnovers are starting to appear frequently, and these will be a real concern for the college basketball program at this stage of the season.
The Kentucky Wildcats is another program that has found itself falling down the power rankings, although the team has been rather unfortunate as they have had to battle with injuries to some of their first-teamers. Jacob Toppin has performed admirably as a solid reserve, though, which is why the Wildcats have been able to remain near the top of the list.
The Purdue Boilermakers are deep in the battle for the Big Ten title race at the moment – a race that is extremely competitive and features Illinois and Wisconsin – and have just three games remaining. However, they have a real chance of winning the league as they are also believed to have the easiest schedule based on its strength.
Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devils found themselves moving up a place in the latest power rankings largely due to the fact that Wendell Moore was able to enjoy one of his best weeks for a couple of months. Indeed, there was plenty of discussion about the player following his November displays, but things went a little downhill until last week.
