| In 1971, the Western Athletic Conference created the Fiesta Bowl in an effort to secure a bowl game for the WAC champion. Today, it is the youngest of the four major college football bowl games. The 2009 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl was played in Glendale, Arizona at the University of Phoenix Stadium on January 5th between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Texas Longhorns.
